Ride Across the United States!

Adventures for the Cure

5,000 Miles Four Bikes Four Hearts Two Tents One Mission

Adventures for the Cure is a not for profit organization that was created in the summer of 2005 by friends Patrick Blair and Adam Driscoll. Adam has Type I Diabetes and must battle this disease every day of his life. Instead of doing this quietly, these two decided to do something about it to raise awareness.

The idea was to do at least one extreme feat of mental and physical endurance in order to inspire others and hopefully raise money to help in diabetes research through the American Diabetes Association. Adam and Pat raised $7,000.00 over Labor Day weekend 2005 by biking from Catonsville MD to Ocean City MD and back in just two days, covering 320 miles in total

Next summer, the Adventure continues and its even bigger!

Pat and Adam now plan to bike across the country, starting in Bellingham, Washington on June 1st and ending in Ocean City, Maryland on July 31st. They will be covering approximately 100 miles a day, this time pushing their mental and physical toughness harder than they ever have before.

But Pat and Adam are not alone this year. Another close friend, Jesse Stump, was so inspired by what they did that he has given up a trip to Europe to join them in this trek across the country.

In addition to Jesse, a young man named Emmanual will also be joining them. Emmanuel was born in Africa. He biked 600km across Ghana to show others that being disabled does not mean inability!! This guy is tough as nails. He is an inspiration to thousands of people across the world. They were able to contact Emmanual through an organization called Kupenda (They met its founder, Cindy Bauer at their church) and were so inspired by him and Cindy's organization, that they have decided to raise money for both Kupenda and Diabetes in this years adventure!
